The Gärten presents Catz N Dogz & Siopis
No time to rest. This week we have a true treat for all of your bass inclined ears. We’ve got two acts who are no strangers to the lower frequencies.
Catz N Dogz, who have been releasing hits on every label from Dirty Bird to Crosstown Rebels to their own PETS, and Siopis (Get Physical, Mangali) are our guests of honor. We have no doubt you’ll show them the warmest of welcomes.
Catz N Dogz
If you don’t know them by now, their full Polish names are Grzegorz and Wojciech but you can call them Greg and Voitek. As DJs you are likely to find them playing disco/deephouse at the small parties they organize frequently in Berlin and Szczecin as well as tech-house and techno at festivals and big clubs all over the world. Back in 2003 they started it all off by organizing a club night in their home town of Szczecin, Poland. This night soon became a residency and their reputation grew quickly. A radio show soon followed on Szczecin’s ABC Radio allowing them to explore their creativity and gain a legion of fans. Soon after that, they began to produce records together as the techno centric “3 Channels,” eventually evolving into Catz n Dogz – a grooving, category-free mixture of modern music.
One may indentify Jannis Siopis as the former Silversurfer from Crosstown Rebels, a rather raw, dark and mysterious lad in his early days. His roots derive from a traditional Greek background in a modern German setting.
A classical love affair with his clarinet and trumpet later coincided with his creative talent for breakdancing, graffiti art and spinning records, ultimately, landing him DJ gigs in small clubs in Germany. In 1997 he moved to Berlin, where his musical career was launched into full swing. His unmatched DJ sets were part of the soundtrack of the uprising electronic music metropolis. Siopis’ stages were underground clubs and Illegal off-location parties in east Berlin. In the following years he toured all around the world playing in more than 30 different countries at venues like Fabric London, Back to Basics in Leeds and Space Ibiza. His DJ Sets and Live Acts with Kiki set a unique brandmark on the electronic music landscape.
