Nemr Abou Nassar Live at DRM
Nemr Abou Nassar is widely recognized as Lebanon’s pioneer of Stand Up Comedy. Having started the scene on his own with nothing more than passion and drive to boot.
Described as “deliciously Non-chalant”, a “Stand Up Comedian who is rising irresistibly”, by the prestigious L’Orient Le Jour of Lebanon, as well as a “National Hero” by the National Of Dubai, Nemr has achieved what few ever thought was possible; creating thriving Stand Up Comedy scene emanating from Lebanon and reverberating throughout the Middle East as it rises with him.
Born in Lebanon on September 26, 1983, Nemr was forced to leave with his family in 1985 to the US seeking escape from raging Lebanese civil war at the time, only to return in 1993 where he has remained since, gaining great influence from his father Joseph whom he credits much of his character to, and his mother, Hiam, who he credits his emotional expressiveness too, My parents are what I compare greatness to, I would be no where without them, they taught me how to fight for what I believe in and to do it without wavering for a second from my moral compass, how to stay grounded and achieve great things.
From his humble beginnings as a student hosting concerts as an MC/Stand Up Comedian in his university, the American university of Beirut, to one of the most notable stand up comedians in the region Nemr has mapped the path for other aspiring comics with his ascent.
Starting his professional career following the summer of 2006 war of Israel on Lebanon with a purpose to create a scene of cultural entertainment where people can truly escape in order to return with a different approach, Nemr has chartered tough waters, doing shows during periods terrorist bombings, political assassinations, regional strife, and most recently civil unrest so great it brought Lebanon the closest its ever been to a civil war since 93.
Since his first show at hotel de Ville, Nemr has graced Lebanon top venues, including Hard Rock Cafalso as the main attraction of their New Year’s celebration), B O18 Classic, Sky Bar, Snatch, Bar Louie, Blush, Sursock Palace, and Many others.
Nemer also joined the Axis of Evil during their shows in Lebanon for five sold out shows in the nation most prestigious theatre at the Casino Du Liban, where his performance was revered as a sensation and received a standing ovation, only to return four months later with his own solo debut performance for two sold out shows at the same theatre rocking the stage for over 90 minutes, exiting to another standing ovation and rave reviews. All profits from the show were donated to the Childern’s Cancer Center of Lebanon www.cccl.org.l
Leading up to his solo performance at the Casino Du Liban, Nemr did a promotional tour of seven of Lebanon’s largest universities; NDU, LAU Jbeil, LAU Beirut, Uvelin, USJ, AUB, and USEK with a promotional show at each university drawing the single largest crowd for any event in each universities history.
