Universal has released a slapstick-filled first trailer for Illumination’s “Minions” movie, eight months before its July 10 opening.
The spinoff of the two “Despicable Me” films stars minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob in search of a new master. They wind up in New York in 1968 after serving an Egyptian pharaoh, Dracula, Napoleon and a dinosaur.
“Finding a master was easy,” the voiceover notes. “Keeping a master was tricky.”
Minions is an upcoming 3D computer-animated comedy film and a spin-off/prequel to Despicable Me (2010) and Despicable Me 2 (2013). Sandra Bullock will voice Scarlet Overkill, the villain of the film, and Jon Hamm will voice her husband, inventor Herb Overkill.
The film is scheduled to be released on July 10, 2015. The film was first teased in the ending credits of Despicable Me 2, where three Minions are seen auditioning for the film.
