Lana Del Rey – Blue Jeans [video]
Below you can watch the video premiere for Lana Del Rey new music video for her track “Blue Jeans”
“Blue Jeans” is 1/3 of a trilogy of songs (wedged in between “Video Games” and “Born to Die”) that Del Rey penned about a previous relationship, so the new visual naturally serves as a prequel to the garish “Born To Die” clip. We now get to see the early cracks that led up to the end of Lana’s doomed romance, with the simple but breathtaking visual giving us an insight into the dangerous affair that led up to the couple’s demise.
Excessively noir and rooted in vintage glamor, Yoann Lemoine’s cinematography is hands down the best of the year as far as music videos are concerned. Scenes of Lana laying by the pool, illuminated only by the light reflecting from the water, or framed shots of a black & white Hollywood skyline are as as breathtakingly beautiful as they are sinisterly sexual and foreboding. There’s a constant tug of war between light and dark, climaxing in the final moments of the video when Lana is slowly pulled underwater by her reptilian lover.
Her name Elizabeth Woolridge Grant (born June 21, 1986), better known by her stage name Lana Del Rey, is an American singer and songwriter. She has been described as a “self-styled gangsta Nancy Sinatra”, and cites Britney Spears,Elvis Presley and Kurt Cobain amongst her musical influences.
Del Rey’s major-label debut album, Born to Die, debuted at number one in seven countries, including the United Kingdom and Australia. The album has spawned two worldwide top 10 hits: “Video Games” and “Born to Die”.
