Finn is ready in new “Star Wars” spot, 5-day countdown begins

“I’m ready,” Finn shouts in a fresh TV spot, but he — along with everyone else — wants to know what he’s ready for ahead of a “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” theatrical release this week.

Much of the 30-second spot is recognizable but it contains glimpses of a few newer scenes as fans continue to piece together possible story outlines — or steer clear for fear of unearthing further spoilers.

The five-day wait refers to a US theatrical release on December 18 for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” It’s the franchise’s seventh feature film entry in 38 years, and the first since “Revenge of the Sith” in 2005.

Some territories receive “The Force Awakens” on general release two days earlier on December 16, including France, Benelux, Switzerland, and a number of other countries around the world, with yet others joining in on the 17.

Conservative estimates for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” project a box office revenue upwards of $1bn.

Prior to the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the highest-grossing film of all time is 2009’s “Avatar,” with a $2.7bn box office, ahead of “Titanic” (1997, $2.1bn) and 2015’s “Jurassic World” ($1.6bn).

In rankings adjusted for inflation, 1939 debut “Gone with the Wind” stands at $3.4bn (according to Guinness World Records), with “Avatar” on $3.0bn and the original 1977 “Star Wars” on $2.8bn.
