Beirut Jam Sessions presents The Royal Concept & Who Killed Bruce Lee
IT’S OUR 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND THIS TIME WE’RE GOING FOR 3 ACTS!
OPENING ACT: POSTCARDS
This charming, young and enthusiastic trio have started making a name for themselves in the Beirut music scene participating in almost every possible music event while attracting crowds that have been eagerly awaiting their original music. This will be the first time they actually perform their original songs and that’ll make it a little something special to kick start the evening!
MAIN ACT: THE ROYAL CONCEPT
If you’re an indie rock band from Stockholm, you really have to go the extra mile to stand out against the burgeoning music scene over there! The Royal Concept had barely existed for a year and had played only a handful of shows before they’d amassed thunderous word of mouth from those lucky enough to catch them live. Since they formed in early 2011, their songs have been getting a massive buzz every single time they’ve been released, one of which was even included in the elitist FIFA13 soundtrack, and that’s why we’re expecting them to blow our audience away!
The release of their second single “Gimme Twice” in early 2012 got viral with blogs all over the globe with it hitting number 1 on several charts online and on radios in Scandinavia. Their music also smashed the charts on Hype Machine hitting number 3 with “Gimme Twice” and number 2 with “D-D-Dance”.
The Royal Concept didn’t stay Stockholm’s secret for long; they instantly caught the attention of label executives. With international recognition circulating, Lava Records founder and CEO Jason Flom was transfixed by the live experience of the band when seeing them live for the first time. He released their self-titled debut EP in June 2012, which showcases their array of diverse influences such as Simon & Garfunkel, Daft Punk, and The Strokes.
The band joined Alex Clare on a radio tour of the West Coast. Every date was sold out and the band’s live show continued to amass praise. They finished out 2012 touring with the whose-who of the indie rock darlings list; playing shows with The Wombats, Wolf Gang, Morning Parade, and Atlas Genius. The long-awaited debut full-length album from The Royal Concept will drop in 2013, and the band couldn’t be more ready for the world to hear it.
Beirut is up next!
