The region’s first 12 hour endurance race comes to Yas Marina Circuit on January 20th 2012.
Gulf 12 Hours will feature cars from around the world competing in two 6 hour long races, with just 40 minutes break for the teams to work on their cars.
Race categories include GT2, GT3 ,Porsche Cup and Prototype, with international and local drivers competing in this unique race. Yas Marina Circuit’s own Aston Martin GT4 will be entered, driven by Saeed Al Mehairi, Sheikh Hasher al Maktoum, and Mohammed al Mutawa, three of the best Emirati drivers in the U.A.E.
Aside from the spectacle of the racing itself, there will be lots going on to entertain spectators; garage tours, pit lane walks, and grid access details will be announced shortly.
Teams & Taking Part:
Cars eligible for the 2012 Gulf 12 Hours are as follows:
GT4 Cars – cars complying with SRO’s GT4 European Cup Regulations
Cup Cars – including Porsche Carrera Cup, Renault Megane Eurocup & Lamborghini Supertrofeo.
FIA Group CN Cars (in compliance with FIA Article 259)
Other classes will be decided based on individual team requests. Teams with cars that do not belong to any of the classes listed above can apply for invitation to compete. In order to minimise the gap between the fastest and the slowest cars, touring cars with power less than 300 BHP will not be admitted.
